What Tonewood options does Magnum Opus offer?
This may vary from time to time based on current inventory build demands, air-drying time and market availability. Magnum Opus Buyers search worldwide for traditional and exotic Master Grade Tonewoods. When we discover quality tonewoods which meet our standards we load up. With prices constantly rising and dwindling availability of Master Grade tonewoods (especially those cut from old-growth forest), it's a must investment for a high-end builder.

Tonewoods currently available include: Engelmann Spruce, Sitka Spruce, Western Red Cedar, East Indian Rosewood, Cocobolo, Hawaiian Koa, Claro Walnut, African Blackwood, Ovangkol, Macassar Ebony, African Mahogany, South East Asian Rosewood, Maple and Ziricote.

Do you use plastic or synthetic binding on your guitars?
Absolutely not. All of our handmade acoustics (regardless of price point) use genuine Wood binding. Current Wood binding options include: Ebony, Koa, Maple, Padouk, Walnut and Whitewood.

Can I custom call my own tonewoods, bindings, etc. on an existing Magnum Opus model?
Absolutely. Since every guitar we build is made 100% by hand (without the aid of CNC machines) we are ready, willing and able to custom build your dream guitar. Please contact your local Magnum Opus Retailer or give us a call and we will be happy to answer all your questions.

What's the turn-around time for custom orders?
Every MO guitar is 100% hand-made without the aid of CNC machines. We even make our Ebony, Koa or Bone bridge pins and our tuning machine buttons by hand. Therefore, one might accurately say that "every guitar is a custom shop one-off" as each goes through the same "labor of love" and given the same attention to detail and quality. Turn-around time for all MO guitars is 6 months.

What strings do you recommend for my MO guitar?
Elixir Nanoweb or Phosphor Bronze Nanoweb Lights.
